Jonah – A Whale of a Tale

One of the most iconic Bible stories ever is “Jonah and the Whale.” Children focus a lot on the fact that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. They may not realize the reason this happened in the first place.
Jonah ran from God because he did not want to obey. He wanted to avoid having to tell the people of Nineveh about God. He didn’t want to give them a chance to repent of their sins.
Sadly, even after being swallowed by the whale (big fish), Jonah did not learn his lesson. He received a second chance from God, but still, Jonah’s attitude toward Nineveh did not change. He was angry that God even desired to save the people there.
In this series, your children will learn that running from God is useless. God always knows where we are. They will also learn that God wants to give all people a second chance. We must embrace our calling to take the message of God’s love to the world! EVERYONE deserves a second chance!
We pray your children enjoy learning about JONAH. It’s a “whale of a tale.”
